The George Matthews Award for Excellence in
Parent Leadership

2011 George Matthew Award Winner – Brenda Stupich

 

Brenda Stupich is a parent whose leadership, dedication, and influence have demonstrated to the education community the importance of the parent role in education. She has been an exemplary leader, not only in the education of her own children, but she has also assisted others and had a significant impact on parents’ ability to advance and exercise leadership in public education.  Brenda has been inspirational in sharing her practices which have had major, identifiable impact on parent interest, participation and involvement in her community.

George Edwin Matthews (1941-2001) was a steadfast supporter of parents in education throughout his years as a manager in Field Services for the Ministry of Education and liaison with BCCPAC. His opinions and judgment were widely respected and his fair-mindedness won him the confidence of the BCCPAC membership. The Award was established in memory of George and to honour his unwavering support of BCCPAC.
