BCCPAC Life Membership Award

A Life Membership is awarded by the BCCPAC Board of Directors under the authority of Bylaw 2.03: Member Classes, Eligibility, and Admission, to recognize outstanding contributions to the advancement of the purposes of BCCPAC by a parent who has been involved in a BCCPAC member PAC, DPAC, and with BCCPAC.
Objective
To honour an individual who has provided service to the Society and whose contribution is considered to have been innovative and of significant lasting importance to furthering the inclusion and support of parents in BC's public education system and the improvement of education for children in BC. The award is intended to reflect honour upon BCCPAC as well as upon the individual.
Selection Criteria
The recipient is a person who:

Is a parent who has been actively involved in BCCPAC and has at least 5 years' involvement or service to BCCPAC, contributing to the purposes of BCCPAC.

Has served for at least one year on the BCCPAC Board of Directors or has served the organization in some other equivalent way.

Is not currently serving on the BCCPAC Board of Directors.

Has been recommended for Life Membership by at least six BCCPAC member PACs or DPACs in good standing.

Has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the purposes of BCCPAC, and whose service to the Society is considered to have been innovative and of significant lasting importance to the inclusion and support of parents in BC's public education system and the improvement of education for children in BC.
Outstanding contributions shall be considered to be by someone who has:

Promoted the involvement of parents in BC's public education system in a positive, effective, and long-lasting way.

Actively contributed to the work of BCCPAC and the significant advancement of its purposes as a Society.

Demonstrated ability to influence change in education by leading, supporting, and mentoring parents.

Shared their expertise with a broad range of parents through the development of resources, programs, and educational opportunities for parents.
Nomination Procedures and Guidelines
The information submitted in the Nomination Form must be accurate. Forms need to be signed by the nominee, an executive member from the primary nominating PAC, and five other BCCPAC member PACs/DPACs in good standing to confirm eligibility.

A completed Nomination Form, with five supporting signatures of BCCPAC member PAC/DPACs who verify that the nominee meets the criteria.

The Primary Nominator must submit a maximum 500-word summary of the nominee’s background with evidence to support the criteria, including concise details about their contributions to the advancement of the purposes of BCCPAC.

Three letters of support, two from parents and another from a student, administrator, educator, or trustee.
Selection Procedures

Nomination packages are to be received by the BCCPAC office by February 28th of each year.

An appointed selection committee will review all submitted Life Membership Nomination Forms.

The selection committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors based on the selection criteria.

The Board of Directors will confirm the appointment of a Life Member.
Award Presentation
The Life Membership Award recipient will be announced at the BCCPAC Annual General Meeting. The Life Member will be listed in the BCCPAC archives and is entitled to speak but not vote at BCCPAC Annual General Meetings.
